My quaint traditional, jewelry obsessed, Cartier connoisseur, all knowing professor would likely berate me for this post so focused on fashion jewelry. I'm sorry but the novelty and personality within each piece proves that Delfina Delettrez can do no wrong. From bees strong enough to hold up the world, to comic like stars and speech bubbles, each piece is always accompanied by a certain quirky wit. Can we picture Boo, wearing the floating heart collar? I know I can. Can we mutually agree that the Skeleton Hand bracelet would be more than enough to suffice for this years Halloween costume? (It's special order so you best get on it) Just earlier this week I was stating how I wish I owned a crisp white collared shirt; well who needs that when you could turn any white shirt into a crisp white shirt a la collar neckpiece. Alas what could be more reminiscent of your kitchen counters or Balenciaga FW2013 than this Macromosaic bracelet?

And if your more into hand holding and less into hand hugging theres always another option. Since we're still on the topic of hands and I know you're all wondering about the (literal) finger ring, and what the purpose of a finger resting on top of your finger really is? Let me tell you. This ring comes accompanied with a bottle of red nail polish. (yes, the red you see above is removable. No, the nail polish remover is not included) This ring is essentially a grown up socially acceptable, slightly truncated hand that may have belonged to an American girl doll, which also aids to the indecisiveness that lives within us all (in relation to nail color).

Whether we're buying the pieces, dreaming of the pieces, or virtually trying them on over and over, Delfina Delettrez broadcasts the novelty that certain mundane things like fingers, bees, and kitchen tiles all possess. 

In my last post I may have made a remark about frilly lace collared dresses, well nothing was more - Cydney what are you doing- when realizing that, post-hand-stitching the lace around the collar on this dress. I think this just goes to show how much my style varies dependent on my mood. While working 40+ hours per week I'm knocking down frivolous frocks and bright hues, then suddenly a week later (after my last day working for the summer) I'm making a hot pink silk dress with lace detailing... Regardless, I made this dress after debating between two Free People dresses, one of which was too long, and the other almost too short, thus it was time to DIY.

I'll be real. The only reason I took these photos was to determine if I liked the length of the dress, which I am currently in the process of making. At first when I tried it on, I thought no, I might as well start over, this is so not what I was going for - I look like I just walked out of Little House on the Prairie. 

I've since concluded that theres nothing wrong if you spend your Thursday -or any day for that matter- pretending your the modern Laura Ingalls Wilder. Sheer plaid whether it was inspired by Dries Van Noten, or LHONP will be staying on my mind from now until fall and if we're lucky maybe even into next spring. In addition, I shouldn't fear the midi-length, rather embrace it as it doesn't dwarf me completely. 

It was really bright okay.

 I'm wearing a sheer plaid dress (which I designed), an Opening Ceremony hat, Rag & Bone sandals, and vintage jewelry and camera. 

A new bag is much like a newborn baby: You spend months pondering your purchase, literally pregnant with desire for the bag. Once he is delivered, typically via Fedex, he arrives in a carefully taped and packed box, just yearning to be unwrapped. You let him free, and he wants to be held, he wants you to carry him around. He never wants to leave your side. This two way train of over the top affection only lasts so long, and then he wants you to show him off, "Instagram me, feed me, take me to dinner, take me shopping" And as a proud owner of a new 3.1 Philip Lim Pashli Satchel, I could only do those things. 

 So upon Phil's (so fondly nicknamed by my mother) first day of living, we headed to the park. 

 You have to keep him safe by your side. You have to worry about what he's touching, what he's sitting in, what he may or may not be allergic too, when you have to change his diaper shoulder strap...

And then, Phil got a little tired and decided to plop down on the swing to take a rest. He whined about how hot it was and then wanted me to push him. (He wanted to feel the breeze through his handles as he held on for his dear life via his zipper pulls.) 

In addition, I've always been intrigued by the timing it takes from obtaining a new bag, treating it like a precious gem, and then becoming so familiar with it that you throw it around as if it were never a small child. Is this truly the lifespan of the bags childhood into adulthood ? Or in a more realistic sense, I suppose we become so accustomed to it that it no longer seems to need any special treatment?

The only bad thing about working for free is the whole not being able to figure out what you're going to buy thing, seeing as well...you can't really buy anything. So am I already figuring out what I'm going to buy via my summer job? Absolutely.

First on the list: (in no particular order) Isabel Marant Patchwork Denim Jacket, (pictured above Etoile Isabel Marant Denim Shirt) It's not the same gem that I turned down at Beacons Closet, and I'll continue to ask myself why, why was I that idiot that turned down a $54 Isabel Marant jacket? Any who the Alexander Wang Kori Booties are perhaps at the tippytop of this wonderful list, as well as this collection of Rings ASOS, Tom Binns, Dannijo, Kenneth Jay Lane, and ASOS(again)

 Am I actually considering paying over $500 for a pair of slightly distressed sneakers? yes. 

LOOK AT THEM. Those beauties have dots, stripes, AND stars, and there is no price too high for patriotism. Sure, they better live up to a certain level of walking on clouds comfort, but really I can't get over the effortlessly perfect aspect of these Golden Goose Tricolor Sneakers. 

In other news, eBay has further proved that it knows me perhaps better than I know myself. Case and Point, randomly suggesting this Rick Owens jacket to me. Dusty grey and olive ribbed velvet, with a dose of exaggerated collar pure perfection. (shown above is also Rick Owens via Pinterest) 

Dannijo Marilyn Bracelet. I'm particularly intrigued by Dannijo for their offerings of both short and long bracelet lengths. As a lad with small wrists, a few of my greatest fears consist of my bangles slipping off, breaking, or landing into a subway grate, all of which are very tragic.

 A shorter length would simply wash away my fears. 

Not only are these Alice & Olivia high waisted shorts, my current brand du jour but I feel like they would benefit multiple pieces I already own (see denim crop top, Prabal Gurung for Target wedges)

I titled the email to my mother, in which I included the following collage, despite the fact that my actual half birthday would have been over a month ago. She pointed out the fact that I was late to my own celebration by stating "don't you mean your dyslexic half-birthday?  (9/4 versus 4/9?)"

 But in all actuality, I was late to my own celebration or early depending on how you look at it.

I also appreciate the fact that my mother thought I was celebrating the reverse date of my birth, mainly because I'm surprised society hasn't picked up on that idea. (Half Birthdays, Reverse Birthdays, and Actual Birthdays YOLO right?)

Does this serve as a belated celebration due to the fact I am 1/2 a year older than I ever have been before? yes.

 Is this really just a premature list of tentative things I want in celebration of the day in which I am a whole year older than I ever have been before? absolutely yes.

But most recently my mother has pointed out the fact that by the time my birthday comes I will "no doubt have found some more lovely things to have :-)" She knows me too well.

I've been mulling spring trends this week. I was expecting this week (aka spring break) to have me leaping into spring spirit, but I'm just not quite there yet. The weather was not warm enough for spring, but too warm for winter dressing. Upon shopping I kept asking myself

  "what am I even looking for? I don't know what I want"

After careful thought/consideration I can say my Spring Top 5:

1. LOVING Denim everything. (well thats pretty basic... I said to myself) Patchwork, overalls, crop tops dresses etc. particularly with black and white pieces, along with some various pop of color. Also leaning toward lighter bleached denim, which I normally don't favor. This was basically my wardrobe combo for the entire week.

2. Coral and Baby Blue, partially because I fell in love twice with a pair of pale blue linen Acne shorts that would have rang up <$40.00, turns out they were three sizes too big and I was just too excited to check the size.

3. Dainty and not-so-dainty collars. Yes, both. I can't make up my mind (The Khai Khai 'Cloudy With a Chance of Rain, and Lulu Frost Demeter Collage Necklace are my reigning favs)

4. Cut out boots, I feel like the pair I recently purchased completely transformed my wardrobe.

5. Overalls, especially vintage, or of the Zara silk variety.

Thats about how I feel right now. Let me explain to you, I ordered these babies last weekend after heavy contemplation. They were supposed to arrive yesterday, however the only thing that arrived was a notice stating they were dancing around in Hong Kong. Why? One may never know. I just hope they end up working out if/when I ever get them. 

So what can one do to compensate for emotions that are far far too fragile? 

(Besides eating your feelings i.e Crumbs; Chipotle; Pinkberry)

So then after my satisfaction I was just like "OC rules" and made this collage.

I have this thing for babies, not necessarily human babies... but baby bags, and not baby bags (for carrying human baby things) But the spons and smaller versions of their parents. 

For Example the Givenchy Pandora Family started with a lovely large figure, and out of love came the babe. As you can see, we're lucky this happens with most iconic bags, because what better than an iconic bag than a Suri Cruise sized bag?

For my Creative Fashion Presentations class we've been given the assignment to pick and present about out favorite fashion icon, without disclosing their name or pictures until the end. Here are some collages  I've made inspired by my icon.

Brown Bag Lunches

  I typically found an organic buckwheat peanut butter sandwich sans crust, with a triple washed organic apple and a small note "xoxo love mommy." Reminiscent of any childhood experience whether it was leaving it on the bus, or being embarrassed that it wasn't filled with the latest Lunchables. (looking back on it thanks Mom for not allowing me to eat those)

But now that Jil Sander and Celine are coming out with luxury brown bags, from coated paper to leather, I can only picture Suri Cruise and Blue Ivy opening up there lunch bags conjuring jealousy among all their peers.

Last year I made the "Brown Bag" for the SCAD Accessories Design Challenge, I wanted to include touches like the juice and raisin box pockets, and note from mom simply evoke memories from one's childhood experience, and it's just kind of fun because who doesn't like a fun lining and unexpected quirky touches?

I highly believe in the mantra "Look good, Feel good, Do good" So in anticpation for finals, a quick little collage of a few things I need want in preparation of finals. In reality though, I will probably purchase as a reward if I do well, not as a crutch to brace studying/sanity on.

Included are things such as necessities like the Marc by Marc Jacobs flash drive, I have to store my papers and notes somewhere right? A slouchy casual cool Topshop sweater, in the perfect shade of emerald, paired with Rag & Bone Jeggings. I'm still obsessing over these denim Isabel Marant Sneaker Wedges and Floral Doc Martens, so those are included seeing as they are both comfortable and add to an otherwise basic outfit. 

The accessories also play a crucial role in my fantasy finals outfit. The sunglasses, just in case the sun ever comes out. The Marc By Marc Jacobs Messenger Bag, seeing as its the perfect size for essentials needed for testing days, and it would be perfect as a carry on for the flight home too. The Finn Love Knot Ring as something to jitter around my finger while testing. The Barneys Red Fur, because the wind chill is frigid and a simple knit scarf may not do during the drastic days of finals. 

And the last but not least, the teal coffee cup that smiles back, mainly because I foresee copious cups of coffee this week.
