NYFW SS2014 Favorites

While last season had me yearning for every piece from certain collections. (ie 3.1 Phillip Lim, Rag & Bone) This time around I didn't feel the same overwhelming obsession with any particular collection. As I'm not a minimalist, I found many of the all white collections a bit monotonous and often uninteresting. My favorites contain unique prints, dramatic silhouettes, and unseasonal adornment, all standing memorable in my mind. They reign in no particular order, but alphabetical.

Raw blueprint-prints, fringed unfinished hems, and a spring coat covered in stripes, dots, and oversized florals all proved to be practical statement coats for spring.

Macrame lace, unexpected silhouettes, braid detailing, and ruffles that are everything but frilly. The silhouettes were as memorable as the detailing.

Oversized sweatshirts, dark hibiscus floral prints, and tassels; Marc was practically singing to the Style Marc choir throughout the show. While the collection doesn't exactly read spring, I think thats why I liked it so much. In addition the hair was reminiscent of Hannah Horvath from Girls post DIY hair chop.

Through the bright mulit-colored florals, to the whimsical balloon animal motif each piece was wearable, and commercially buy able without being boring.

Other than shoes and bags, jackets are another love of mine. These jackets, inspired by Korean Jeogori jackets, in floral and abstract motifs were the perfect collision against the rougher leather jacket and overall fast and furious theme of the show.
